This piece was a commissioned portrait, painted from a photo that was taken when this little girl was four years old. An artistic rendering from a photo can often involve some changes in composition and perspective. Sometimes additional elements need to be added as well to fully tell the story. All of the above occurred in this painting, while still keeping it a true representation of little Hallie.
